My Quarantine Routine

Hopefully you are in quarantine like me and social distancing as much as humanly possible to stop the spread of COVID-19. Since the government in the United States has now extended recommended quarantine and social distancing to April 30th, it’s now more important that ever to keep a routine in order to stay as sane as possible and get through each and every day. Here is my personal schedule for staying productive in quarantine.

Wake up at 9:00am

It’s not as insane as some people’s schedules who wake up at 4:00 am to start their day, but it is early enough for me that I can wake up every morning and get started while still getting enough sleep at night.

Eat Breakfast

The most important meal of the day and the best way to start it once you get your teeth brushed and get dressed.

Start Homework/Work

After I eat my breakfast, I make sure to get right to work doing whatever it is that I have to do for the day. If I have class, I sign in on WebEx or Zoom and get my virtual lecture, do any homework assignments, and do any of my freelance work. Most days, I can get everything I need to done right before lunch.

Lunch Break

I make sure to get a good lunch in, even if I don’t feel very hungry.

Workout/Yoga

I like to switch up what I do each day. I usually rotate between a hard workout one day, and then stretching out and destressing with a good yoga practice.

Watch Netflix

Since I’ve been productive for most of the day, now is the time where I kick back and watch whatever show I feel like binging for a few hours. Right now I’m rewatching some of the older episodes of Supernatural to jog my memory and get into some of the newer seasons that I haven’t seen at all. It has a whopping 14 seasons on Netflix with the final and 15th on the way.

Eat Dinner

I wait until my parents get home from work so that I can eat dinner with them and get some social interaction for the day.

Free Time

I take time after dinner to do whatever I feel like. Sometimes I take care of my plants, other times I do my laundry. It really just depends on what other things I need or want to do.

Bed Time

I don’t set a time to go to bed. I just mostly go to bed whenever I feel tired, but I’ve found that it’s best to go to bed before 11 p.m. so that I can get enough hours of sleep to feel refreshed.
