Projects to Upcycle Old T-Shirts

Sometimes you will find yourself with more t-shirts than you can possibly wear, and some in worse shape than others. When that ratty old t-shirt is in such bad shape that you feel bad donating them for someone else to own, or there is some sentimental attachment to the shirt, perhaps upcycling is better. Here are some projects to upcycle your old t-shirts into new items and give them a new life.

You can then use the yarn for a multitude of different projects, whether it is making a bathmat, basket, washcloths, and basically anything you can knit or crochet! You can find their tutorial here.

T-Shirt Tote Bags and Drawstring Bags

There are a few no-sew grocery tote bag tutorials that you can find on Pinterest, but none that look quite as good as this one by Between the Lines. They created a slotted grocery bag and uses the unused sleeves to create a smaller drawstring bag. You can see Between the Lines’s tutorial here.

T-Shirt Dog Toy

From Life With Onesies

Mary from Life With Onesies has created a wonderful tutorial for your furry friends. Dog toys can be a little expensive sometimes, so to be able to make your own and not feel bad when your dog rips them apart is great. You can find Mary’s tutorial here.

This one is super simple. All you need to do is cut your t-shirts into rectangles and use them as cleaning rags! No sewing needed.
