I have been making and writing on blogs for the better part of three years now. I always start off great, but ultimately end up deleting everything because I just can’t keep up with the demand. Blogs are hard. They really are, and don’t let anyone tell you differently. If you have a successful blog, you know just how challenging it is to keep creating content and being consistent with your audience. It can lead you to burn out and start to hate the blogging experience.
No one wants to start ultimately hating what they started out loving. It just leads to you becoming completely unsatisfied in the end and deleting your whole site so you don’t have to stare your failure in the face every time you boot up your computer.
Like I said, blogging is not easy. There are many articles that will tell you otherwise and that it is a great way to earn money. So many people get sucked in by the “How I made $10,000 by Blogging” titles that they don’t really understand all the hard work that will have to go into that blog to scale it up so far as to be able to make that much money.
To be completely honest, I didn’t get into blogging to make money (although now as a very broke and poor college students it would be nice to be able to earn some money doing something as simple as writing a few blog posts). I Got into blogging because I like writing and marketing. Blogging is the best of both worlds. You write about what you like and then find ways to get people to see your posts. After a while though, blogging kind of becomes more of a chore than something fun for me to do in my spare time.
One problem I really seem to find myself in is that I am a person of many loves and passions. I love art and designing, but I’m also super nerdy and like Marvel and Lord of the Rings. There’s the part of me that loves to cook and eat delicious food, and there’s the complete fitness nut in me that is trying to stop drinking soda for the first time in my life. I would love to be able to write about all of this stuff, but a part of me is hesitant to because I feel like all those things are just a little too broad in order to find a real audience that would like to read my posts.
Blogging is hard. But I think I might just have to say screw it and write about whatever I want instead of thinking about what others would want. How could I possibly run out of content if I grasp from all the different passions in my life?
If you made it all the way to the end of this small rant, I thank you for listening. I think being able to put out all my frustrations can be great sometimes. So thank you.
If you feel the same or different about anything I said, leave a comment below. I would love to have a conversation.
